The IAPHS was created by engineers who once met at EPFL and now work in the field of Hydraulic Schemes around the world. The main goal of the association is to keep former colleagues in contact despite the distances, as well as represent the profession in important events and enhance international partnership for development.

All professionals working in the field of Hydraulic Schemes with former links to EPFL as students or lecturers may apply for membership. Universities and state agencies can become institutional members. Regular payment of a symbolic fee is due.

Ongoing projects include the edition of an International Bulletin, the management of an e-based technical forum, the bi-annual IAPHS Award, the IAPHS Grant for junior participation at conferences and the promotion of regional contacts based on our large database of members.
